In an in vivo model of ovarioectomy in young and old CBA/Ca mice abnormalities in ovarian endocrine function were reproduced. Multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSCs) were obtained from adipose tissue, phenotyped by flow cytometry, and the in vitro characteristics of morphology, proliferative potential and ability to direct multilinear differentiation in osteogenic and adipogenic directions were evaluated. It was shown that under the influence of ovariectomy in young animals there is a decrease in proliferative potential, as well as an increase in adipogenic and a decrease in osteogenic potential of MMSCs. A decrease in colony-forming ability in young mice after ovariectomy was first shown. The results of the study indicate a possible effect of menopause on the functional activity of MMSCs.
