New technological approaches to obtained of dispersion-hardened materials based on TiC – Al, TiC (TiB2) – iron-carbon alloy and TiC–Ti systems are developed. The innovation lies in the fact that refractory particles (in particular, TiC) are not mechanically introduced to the powder mixture as an additional component during powder mixing, as it is characteristic to conventional methods, but are instead formed during HVED as a result of reaction synthesis under the impact of microplasma discharges. Optimal parameters of HVED treatment of Ti powder in hydrocarbon liquid, necessary for the synthesis of ultrafine TiC – Ti powder composition, are determined. It is found, that the use of “point – plane” electrode system is appropriate in the mediums of kerosene and ethylene with specific treatment energy up to 10 MJ/kg. The processes of structure formation of TiC – Ti composite material, formed after consolidation by spark plasma sintering, are studied, and technological methods of compaction of composites, where content of carbide phase can reach over 30 %, are worked out.
