The goal of the project is to detect and estimate the parameters of traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) caused by natural and artificial high-energy sources, as well as near equinoxes and solstices, using the incoherent scatter (IS) radar of Institute of Ionosphere, and employing data from the global network of incoherent scatter radars and ionosondes which are open access data; comparison of the obtained parameters with model and theoretical estimations. Research techniques are ground-based radiophysical methods of incoherent scattering of radio waves and vertical sounding, statistical (correlation and spectral) methods of analysis of signals having different nature. The results of studies of traveling ionospheric disturbances over different regions of the globe are presented. The parameters of these disturbances during the effect on the atmosphere and the ionosphere of high-energy processes of natural and anthropogenic origin (geospace storms and perturbations, passage of the solar terminator) are estimated. An unified methodology for joint processing and analysis of IS data acquired with IS radars of Ukraine, USA, Japan and EISCAT is improved and allows to detect and estimate the parameters of TIDs over different latitudinal sectors. Results of this scientific work can be used in pure and applied research of space weather, solar-terrestrial couplings; interaction of meteorological and space weather systems and of different ionospheric and atmospheric regions; accounting the effect of traveling ionospheric disturbances caused by high-energy natural and anthropogenic sources on the efficiency and accuracy of telecommunication systems, radio navigation, geopositioning, on the operation of satellite subsystems of the ground-space civilian and military systems in the open space.
