The urgency of the work is conditioned by the state, leading tendencies of development and contradictions of the modern Ukrainian and world cultural process at the turn of the XX - XXI centuries. In this context, the need to reflect on ways of preserving national identity and at the same time organic incorporation of Ukrainian culture into the modern polylogue of national cultures is actualized. The basis for this is an in-depth study of the basic processes and tendencies of development of each branch of Ukrainian culture and the specifics of their interpretations during the XX - beginning of XXI centuries. from the point of view of contemporary cultural demands through an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the phenomenon of Ukrainian culture and its role in the unification of society, despite the complex transformational changes, migration and assimilation processes in our time. This creates the necessary basis for developing practical strategies for the development of Ukrainian culture and its individual phenomena, industries in today's totally globalized and informatized world. The relevance of the study is in particular to highlight the importance of Ukrainian culture as a factor in the enrichment of cultures and preserve the identity of the Ukrainian ethnic group. It is important to identify and disclose the identity issues of traditional music. The cultural and artistic processes of our time require a new approach to understanding different artistic phenomena in the realities of the late twentieth - early twentieth centuries. and the study of the contemporary art-science of the major figurative-plastic and artistic-stylistic transformations that decorative art has undergone as a result of globalization processes. The authors' understanding of different trends in specific material of one type of art and the culture of Ukraine in recent decades has been made in the context of understanding the rapid progress of globalized civilization.
