Purpose: to develop theoretical and methodological provisions adapted to the Ukrainian economy, tools and practical recommendations for assessing the probability of enterprise liquidation due to the introduction of their bankruptcy procedure and determining on this basis the financial potential of enterprises. Research methods: general and special research methods are used: generalization and comparison - to establish similarities and differences of research results of other authors in assessing the probability of bankruptcy; discriminant analysis - to develop a 4-factor model for estimating the probability of starting the liquidation procedure of enterprises that are in bankruptcy proceedings; expert assessments - to build a scale of interpretation of the results; matrix method - to build matrices for pairwise comparison of results. It is offered to estimate liquidation of the enterprise by means of definition of its conditional probability. A matrix of pairwise comparison of the results of qualitative assessment of the probabilities of the beginning of the bankruptcy procedure of the enterprise and the beginning of the procedure of its liquidation is constructed. It is substantiated that the level of financial potential of the enterprise is the inverse of the probability of bankruptcy and liquidation of the enterprise. Matrices for qualitative assessment of such potential for different probabilities of bankruptcy have been constructed. The results of testing confirm the correctness of the proposed methods and the feasibility of their use.
