The aim of the work is to study and analyze the historical aspects and theoretical foundations of the European integration vector of Ukraine, as well as to study the problems associated with the implementation of the European integration course of the state at this stage. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that European integration is now gaining a qualitatively new meaning in Ukraine: from a declarative foreign policy course, it is gradually becoming a comprehensive domestic policy of reforms. Theoretical and practical results - the main problems are considered and the main tasks of regional policy in Ukraine within the framework of the European integration vector at this stage are defined; it is determined that based on the severity and scale of the problem, it is possible to develop specific territorial programs that will be aimed at the development of a particular region; the shortcomings and achievements of the modern Ukrainian social sphere are highlighted and the ways of overcoming social problems on the way of Ukraine to Europe are suggested.
