A purpose of work - an increase of reliability of details of machines. A research method is macroanalysis, tests for mechanical properties, computational and experimental research, mathematical methods of data processing. The paper considers the development of electrodes for welding and surfacing. The stages of development of electrode production from the beginning of welding discovery and further improvement of electrode materials are shown. The electromagnetic nature of fretting corrosion is established. It follows from the electromagnetic nature of interatomic bonds that fretting corrosion is the result of the formation of electromagnetic gravitational forces when the atoms of the sleeve-pin and the support roll converge at the interatomic distance under the action of specific pressures exceeding the yield strength. The concentrations of harmful substances and gross emissions of dust and gases during surfacing of gear pump holders with powder electrode were determined. To ensure the hygienic characteristics of the air environment that meet the regulatory data, it is advisable to use local exhaust ventilation with a sloping exhaust panel of uniform suction. Studies of the influence of the parameters of the welding mode and the chemical composition of the flux on the mechanical properties of the welded joint using a mathematical model. The effect of increasing the deposition rate and reducing the running energy on the corrosion resistance of the deposited metal has been established. On the basis of the established regularities the process of high-speed surfacing on low running energy of immersion drums of the galvanizing unit by a chromium-nickel corrosion-resistant wire is developed. The development of flux-cored wire with the effect of self-hardening during operation is considered, which allows to increase the wear resistance and reduce the cost of such alloying elements as nickel.
