The object of research is to identify the patterns of three-dimensional formation of architectural objects in the urban environment, improvement measures for the development of sustainable architecture and identification of the latest trends architectural education in Ukraine. The purpose of the study - to improve research methods, design and preservation of architectural objects, analysis of modern experience and definition issues of architectural and urban planning research to solve techniques improving the urban environment on the basis of sustainable urban development. Research methods - the study is based on systemic, environmental, ecological, general scientific approaches. Methods applied typological analysis, field surveys, comparative analysis. Degree of implementation: results of GDR implementation in theory and practice of architectural and urban planning. Relationship with other disciplines: this work is available interdisciplinary and related to urban planning, pedagogy, sociology. Recommendations for the use of research results: implementation in the development of projects of architectural objects in large and major cities, for dissertation researches of architectural and town-planning character. Scope: urban planning, architecture and higher education. Significance of work and conclusions: methodological and methodical schemes of the decision of questions concerning the considered problems from positions sustainable development of cities, harmonization and improvement of their functional structure and optimization of architectural education.
