The object of research - the core-periphery relations in the region under administrative and financial decentralization. The purpose of the research is to develop methodological base for assessing the core-periphery relations in the region (at the levels: regional center - the territory of the region, cities of regional significance - areas of their influence, united territorial community center - territory of united territorial community ) and to develop the recommendations for their activization. Research methods - the fundamental principles of modern economic theory, theories of public administration, local government, finance, social development, spatial development, the concept of core-periphery model. The methods of scientific thought include dialectical, induction, deduction, comparison, classification, generalization, synthesis as well as special methods (statistical, economic-mathematical, structural, factor analysis, modeling, system approach); and graphic methods. Main results. The evolution of core–periphery studies and approaches to the definition of the core-periphery dichotomy have been systemized. The comparative characteristic of the core and periphery has been carried out, the their peculiarities have been revealed. The classification of core-periphery relations at the territorial dimension has been proposed. The necessity of the study of core-periphery relations in the region under administrative and financial decentralization in Ukraine has been substantiated. Three levels of interaction in the region under decentralization have been identified. The diagnostics of core-periphery relations at different levels in the region under administrative and financial decentralization on the example of Lviv region have been carried out.
