The aim of the study is to create varieties of meadow clover with a high potential for forage and seed productivity, adapted to specific growing conditions, and resistant to biotic and abiotic environmental factors. The subject of research is collection samples of meadow clover of various ecological and geographical origin. Research methods - field, laboratory and mathematical and statistical. Research results - in the course of the work, a collection of varieties, varieties and forms of meadow clover was formed and a promising, stress-resistant breeding material with an increased adaptive potential and different duration of interphase periods was identified, which makes it possible to create varieties with increased and stable seed productivity and high quality feed. For the period 2016-2020 in the selection study there were 3375 numbers of culture, incl. in 2015 - 618. Of these, at the initial stages of the selection process there were 1415 numbers, incl. in 2020 - 210, at the final stages - 750 and 134 numbers. This year, a new cultivar of meadow clover Andriana with increased fodder and seed productivity was transferred to the government variety research service. The yield of green mass in total for two cuttings exceeds 60.0 t / ha, and seeds - 0.3 t / ha. In nurseries of the primary links of seed production, work is carried out with varieties of their own selection - Ternopil 4 and Pavlina. The study of local and introduced samples of meadow clover can reduce the volume and increase the efficiency of breeding work. The introduction of a new variety into production will provide an increase in the yield of feed and seeds by 10-15% without additional costs. Scope of application is research institutions of the corresponding direction, as well as agricultural enterprises of various forms of ownership of the zones of the western forest-steppe and Polesie of Ukraine.
