Dose were evaluated and the efficiency of external and internal irradiation, as well as individual incorporated radionuclides was analyzed for the degree of manifestation of radiation effects in aquatic biota. A retrospective assessment of dose on the population of aquatic organisms in the post-Chornobyl period was performed. Radiosensitivity, radiostability, lesions and processes of adaptation of aquatic organisms to small, chronic doses of ionizing radiation have been determined. The assessment of radiation risks for aquatic organisms under conditions of long-term radionuclide contamination of freshwater ecosystems is performed.
