The purpose of the work is to develop a feasibility study of thermal insulation of enclosing structures of the pigsty to increase its energy efficiency. Research methods - physical, zootechnical, biometric, analytical. According to the research, analytical data were obtained on spatial planning solutions, building materials, geometric, thermotechnical and microclimatic characteristics of a four-row breeding pigsty by periods of the year. The formation of temperature and humidity parameters of the microclimate in a heated room with three-layer panels with constant daily fluctuations had a different effect on the productivity of suckling piglets depending on the season. Probably a higher value of the average live weight of piglets at weaning by 0.19-0.29 kg in spring and summer, compared with winter. Preservation of offspring of piglets at weaning in the winter was lower by 3.8-4.6% compared to other periods of the year. Thus, it was found that the planning and design solution of the pigsty of reinforced concrete three-layer panels of solid cross-section and a ceiling compatible with the roof, is characterized by insufficient energy efficiency due to the presence of "cold / heat bridges" and requires thermal insulation. It is shown that thermal protection of the walls of the pigsty will help to increase the welfare of animals and has an economic effect. The estimated payback period of the measure of external wall insulation is 39.3 months. Thermal protection of the walls of the pigsty also plays an important environmental role in the form of a significant share of energy savings (21.15 thousand kWh, which is equivalent to the preservation of 7.42 tons of conventional fuel) because the raw material reserves of traditional energy sources are depleted.
