Diseases of temporomandibular joint, salivary glands, diseases of periodontal tissues, mucous membranes and soft tissues of the maxillofacial area, teeth and dentitions are considered as a pathology. Occurrence of maxillofacial area disorders, as a rule, has a chronic course, rarely occurs abruptly, except for an acute trauma, and very often pathological processes are connected with each other, as well as with a state and systemic diseases. The principal direction in the solution of this problem is an increase of effectiveness of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of diseases of the maxillofacial area using a differential approach to the etiological and pathogenetic factors leading to the pathology of maxillofacial area. Patients with diseases of the maxillofacial area need comprehensive treatment and prevention of maxillofacial area diseases using the method of genetic differentiation, comprehensive surgical sanitation, symptomatic treatment, including chondroprotective, adaptogene and antioxidant pharmaceutical drugs, dental, orthopedic and orthodontic treatment of dentoalveolar apparatus disorders. Clinical and experimental studies allowed to scientifically substantiate, develop and implement in health protection practice the prediction tools of the occurrence of maxillofacial area diseases taking into account systemic disorders, and occlusal relations of the teeth of upper and lower jaws. There was developed and tested in the experiment and in the clinic a set of medical-preventive activities for the treatment of patients with diseases of the periodontium, mucous membrane, salivary glands and temporomandibular joint.
