The purpose of the second stage is to identify the semantic specifics and individual-author features of the functioning of literary archetypes of home and way in novels by by P. Ackroyd The House of Doctor Dee, G. Swift The Light of Day, J. Barnes The Noise of Time. Research methods are comparative and historical methods, elements of holistic analysis, mythopoetic correlations. Universal features of literary archetypes have been considered. It is proved that since the end of the XX century the archetypes of home and way have been significantly problematized. The “home” ceases to be perceived as an exclusively “private” locus, even if it has absorbed all the wealth of soul of its inhabitants, additional inclusions appear, often of an existential universal plan. It was found that the way in the novel by J. Barnes The Noise of Time is mainly a retrospective description of life of D.D. Shostakovich. The conceptually loaded archetype of the way seems to be dissolved in the description of thoughts and reflections about music, about power, about the ironies of fate, about love, about family, about childhood, and emerges only with a special research “effort”. It is proved that in the novel by G. Swift The Light of Day the actual way of the narrator is presented in the form of a circular labyrinth, while his retrospective life and imaginary way is a confusing labyrinth with many paths from which the hero tries to find a way out. The peculiarity of the archetype of the way here is that it is multi-layered, consists of several tiers: the way of life is presented in retrospect of memories, but these memories are fragmentary and intertwined with thoughts about love, adultery, historical figures. The results of research are published in 3 articles in leading scientific journals.
