The subject of research is physical-technological and energy characteristics of the glow discharge and methods of their control while welding heating. The purpose - determination and improvement of technological properties and energy indicators of medium pressures glow discharge and their control during high-temperature heating and treatment of metals. The realization of this goal is aimed at solving the current scientific and technical problem of creating a new high-tech, energy and resource-saving heat source for diffusion welding, brazing and metals treatment based on distributed gas-discharge plasma of the glow discharge. According to the results of the project it is envisaged to create a new gas-discharge source of welding heat with energy efficiency about 75… 80%, capable of providing precision diffusion-welded and brazed joints both metallic and non-metallic materials in various combinations.
