The surface of a spherical body moves with a given centrally symmetric periodic velocity, or emits a centrally symmetrical pressure of a given frequency and amplitude. A boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation, which describes the hydrodynamic processes in the fluid filling the cavity, is formulated. The exact solution of the boundary value problem is constructed on the basis of the method of division of variables. The determination of the unknown solution coefficients is reduced to an infinite linear system of algebraic equations, the accuracy of the solution of which was controlled on the basis of practical convergence. The calculations established the nature of the wave fields in the vicinity of the spherical exciter and on the surface of the cavity depending on the frequency of kinematic or dynamic excitation.
