The planned study involves the processing and systematization at the current level of numerous materials contained in published and archival sources, and obtained during archaeological excavations and explorations at a number of archaeological sites of the first millennium AD. The main attention is paid to collecting and systematizing information about previously discovered and new archeological monuments, their localization in modern systems of geographical coordinates and political-administrative conditions, cultural-chronological definition, state of research, physical-geographical features of location and history of research. The necessary technique was used, which was recognized in the works on archeology and ancient history of Ukraine. The object of research is the archeological monuments of the Slavs and their neighbors of the first millennium AD, located within modern Ukraine. The purpose of the study is to introduce into scientific circulation a significant number of newly discovered and already known archaeological materials, their systematization, study and interpretation. Conducting archaeological field and laboratory research. Creation of generalizing works on archeology and history of the population of Ukraine in the first millennium AD. Preparation of collective monographs, collections of scientific works, a series of analytical articles, publications of excavation materials and abstracts of scientific reports. The methodological basis of the study is determined by its purpose and objectives. It is based on the principles of spatial integrated interdisciplinary approach, as well as historicism, scientific objectivity, complex and interdisciplinary approaches, which, in turn, were implemented through the use of general scientific research methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, analogy.
