The purpose of the study is to investigate and generalize within the science of public administration theoretical, historical and practical aspects of the formation of Ukrainian national identity and to determine the main prospects for the development of this process. A conceptual approach in public administration in the field of formation of national identity on the basis of the Ukrainian national idea is developed. A holistic administrative approach and an integrative conceptual model of state policy for the formation of Ukrainian national identity are proposed. The implementation of the proposed recommendations will have a positive impact on the process of forming the national identity of modern Ukrainian society and the consolidation of the West and East of Ukraine, various ethnic, social and religious groups.
