Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  In this project, based on the analysis of world practice and experimental and FEA investigations, recommendations were proposed for assessing the stress-strain state and strength of the metal of the WWER reactor vessel under the action of a metal melt during a severe accident. New data of the mechanical properties of hot-worked steel 15Kh2NMFA under conditions typical of a severe accident according to the results of experimental studies were obtained. For estimation of the influence of various factors on the integrity of the WWER reactor pressure vessel under the action of a metal melt during a severe accident finite element method was used. In the simulation experimental data from special metal tests were used. The approach used to assess the bearing capacity of the reactor vessel during a severe accident allowed to take into account the influence of deformation anisotropy of the mechanical properties of the metal on the determination of the limit state in the melting zone. According to the obtained data, the calculation of the stress-strain state of the reactor vessel using main deformation diagrams, which take into account the anisotropy of physical and mechanical properties of 15Kh2NMFA in cross directions, leads to a more conservative solutions of the critical residual thickness compared to the traditional calculation based on the uniaxial tensile diagram of the material.
