The object of study - economic relations, which consist of institutional and qualified staffing of regional development management, taking into account the project approach. The purpose of the work is to solve the problem of institutional and personnel support of socio-economic development of the region, which will increase the competitiveness of the regions of Ukraine. Research methods - a systematic method of cognition, a combination of general and special methods of research, analysis and synthesis, historical and logical, induction and deduction, statistical comparisons. The paper summarizes the theoretical approaches and suggests practical recommendations for institutional and personal support of regional development management based on existing experience of the world, in particular, the emphasis is on the project approach. It is noted that project-educational centers, offices at universities will promote the development of innovation infrastructure, support innovation and increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian regions. Conclusions and recommendations for improving the system of institutional and personnel support of regional policy on the basis of the project approach were used by Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, Ivano-Frankivsk City Council when developing and implementing the Strategies of regional development, Ivano-Frankivsk urban territorial community, Broshniv-Osada village territorial community, Dolyna district council, Kalush district council, Vytvytsia village territorial community, Vyhoda village territorial community, Vorokhta village territorial community, Mykulychyn village council in the development and management of community development projects.
