Purpose: to reveal the features of the artistic solution of sacred images and motifs in the works of domestic masters, to determine the principles of the visual language of Ukrainian art of the XVII - XXI centuries. in the context of European development. The research method is complex, involving a systematic approach, figurative and stylistic, iconographic, comparative and visual-analytical methods, integrated use of published, archival and museum sources. Scientific and practical results: - the results of work are applied in scientific and educational activity, at preparation of methodical recommendations, textbooks on a subject of figurative and stylistic features of sacred fine arts in the decision of cultural and historical problems; - features of formation of figurative means of modern language in different directions of visual communication are considered; - the means of embodying the semantics of images, forms, color in modern art are expressed; - the works of domestic artists in the context of modern trends in world art are considered. The results of the study allow: • Describe the place of religious images and motives in the artistic process of Ukraine dr.pol. XX century and trace their impact on the development of the topic. • Identify the specifics of the plastic language of works dedicated to gospel stories in the artistic heritage of Ukrainian masters. • To trace the main trends and patterns associated with the modern presentation of Old and New Testament themes, its connection with national and world traditions.
