The aim of the research is to develop scientific and methodological bases for selection of new high-yielding varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops in the eastern part of the Left Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, improvement of the seed production system and development of resource-saving technologies for their cultivation. Research methods – field, laboratory, bioinformatic, statistical. Collections of initial and selection material (lines, varieties, hybrids, etc.) of wheat, naked oats, sunflower and amaranth were studied according to the complex of valuable economic traits. Promising forms for plant breeding of these crop were created. A new amaranth variety has been selected. The existence of several morpho-physiological types of wheat plant productivity has been established. The dependence of transgressive variability of wheat on parental genotypes were proved. The GCA features of self-pollinated sunflower lines were studied. The features of amaranth's response to inbreeding have been established. Mutations that may be associated with herbicide resistance have been identified and specific primers for the amaranth AHAS gene have been developed. The features of the effect of PGR, timing and sowing methods on the sunflower and amaranth seed productivity were noted.
