A set of research methods was used to solve this goal. In addition to traditional general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, etc.), other methods were used: classical methods of studying the structure of saline formations, stage, formation, and basin analyzes needed to improve lithological models of saline formations of regional and local constructions, as well as tools for information visualization and analysis - GIS technologies, in particular, spatial statistical analysis (ArcView with ArcView Spatial Analyst module, etc.); sampling of existing manifestations of amber, analysis of their material composition and quality of amber systems of technical vision; monitoring of oil pollution centers, research, and filtration work and construction of migration and filtration models using software products OUAIP (beta version), TRAC (freeware), Marthe 7.4 (licensed). The relevance of research is determined by the need to minimize the environmental impact in the regions of Ukraine of objects related to the involvement of saline formations in economic activity: enterprises for the extraction of rock, potassium, magnesium salts (quarry, mine method, and underground dissolution method), brine, brine, underground tanks created in the massifs of rock salt; overcoming the negative consequences for the environment of illegal amber mining; increasing the effectiveness of remediation measures in areas contaminated with oil products.
