Purpose: to develop a method for determining the redox potentials of N-arylsulfonyl-1,4-benzoquinone monoimines and their measurement. Methods: organic synthesis, physicochemical methods of research of organic compounds: IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, direct potentiometry. Results: N-arylsulfonyl-1,4-benzoquinone monoimines have been synthesized. Their redox potentials (ORPs) were measured by direct potentiometry. Their ORPs were close to the ORP of redox pairs, which were measured by potentiometric titration of 4-arylsulfonylaminophenols with lead tetraacetate in a 0.5 M solution of sodium acetate in glacial ethanoic acid. It was experimentally shown that there is a relationship between the nature of the substituent in the para-position of the aryl fragment of N-arylsulfonyl-1,4-benzoquinone monoimines and their ORP: with increasing electron-accepting properties of the substituent the ORP of quinone imine increases. Efficacy: The results provide important information for predicting the behavior of these quinone imines in different biological systems when using their reduced forms as drugs. And this allows you to purposefully search for new drugs based on similar structures, as well as search for the most rational ways of their synthesis based on information about their redox properties.
