To do this, the paper identifies current challenges, trends, barriers and features of the transformation of the structure of the urban economy in the post-industrialization; conceptual principles of transformation of the socio-economic environment of the city in the context of digital economy development. Peculiarities of structural and institutional transformation of the business sector in the cities of Ukraine are analyzed; the innovative slice of structural transformation of the economy of large cities is estimated; tendencies, regularities and structural transformations in foreign trade in goods and services in the cities of the Western region of Ukraine are revealed. The potential of transformation of structure of economy of cities of regional value of the Western region in the context of priorities of formation of model of circular economy is defined; and the impact of structural changes in the economy on the quality of life of urban populations has been established. Methodical and informational basis of the work are general scientific and special research methods (system approach, factor analysis, spatial analysis, methods of expert and rating assessments, economic and mathematical modeling, etc.), statistical data sets of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, domestic regulations, which determine the principles of formation of structural and economic policy and implementation of state regulatory policy at the regional and local levels, as well as international legislation on the regulation of structural processes in the economy of cities and regions.
