The object of research - transient electromagnetic processes in the power traction circuits of DC electric drives. The purpose of the work is comparative characterization and adaptation of existing methods of analysis of nonstationary processes to calculation of transient electromagnetic processes in power circuits of transport electric drives of direct current taking into account deterministic and stochastic character of change of electric traction voltages and currents. Research methods - the theory of automated electric drive, theoretical aspects of traction motors of electric rolling stock of direct current, methods of calculation of nonlinear electric and magnetic circuits, methods of solving systems of differential equations, operator method of analysis of transients. The analysis of continuous in time operational and possible emergency modes of functioning of traction electric drives of electric rolling stock of a direct current is carried out. The corresponding transient electromagnetic processes caused by the specified modes are established. The existing methods of calculation of electromagnetic processes in power traction circuits of transport electric drives are analyzed. The comparative characteristics of analytical methods of analysis are given in detail. Theoretical aspects, bases of development and methodology of application of three new methods are given: a method of transformation of variables, a method of DT - transformations and a method of magnetoelectric substitution schemes.
