A concept for the development of energy-efficient and energy-independent rural areas is going to bedeveloped in order to achieve a high level of competitiveness of the national economy. The proposed concept is based on the use of alternative energy sources for the needs of private farms and ensuring the sustainable operation of the objects of rural infrastructure. The project is supposed to provide the development and the implementation of a systematic approach for transition from the traditional system of energy supply to the modern and efficient management using local alternative fuels. The introduction of the activities proposed as a result of the project implementation concerning the study of local alternative energy sources under the conditions of rural development will enable to get significant economic, social, environmental and energy effects. The economic and social effect of the concept implementation will be the creation of additional workplaces in the places of harvesting, processing and delivery of energy raw materials; conversion of expenditures for consumed energy into investments for the own region; improvement of social security of the population; expansion of the industrial infrastructure of the village, etc. Among the environmental and energy effects to be achieved, it is advisable to distinguish the following ones: reducing pollution of the environment; rational use of natural resources; use of free agricultural land for the cultivation of energy crops; restoration of soil ertility and agricultural biodiversity; involvement of investors from bioenergy and organic agriculture; dissemination of experience among other regions of the country.
