Luk'yanova of National academy of medical sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2  The study examined the clinical, immunological, functional and morphological features of comorbid bronchial asthma associated with esophagitis (reflux esophagitis and eosinophilic esophagitis) in children. It was found that non-erosive forms of reflux esophagitis are registered in children with asthma (98.7% of patients), which are accompanied by 79.3% eosinophilic type of inflammation with IgE expression, and pathomorphological changes of the esophageal mucosa depend on the severity of asthma. Only in 1.3% of the examined children eosinophilic lesions of the esophagus meet the criteria of eosinophilic esophagitis. It was determined that the presence of GERD with reflux esophagitis in children with asthma affects the control of the disease, which is associated with moderate bronchial hypersensitivity and more pronounced inflammatory changes in the airways, sensitization mainly to protease and PR-10 pollen and food allergens. Scientifically substantiated differentiated treatment-and-prophylactic measures with the use of alternative schemes of basic treatment of asthma, proton pump inhibitors, allergen-specific immunotherapy and diet therapy in children with comorbid asthma combined with GERD and reflux esophagitis.
