As a result of the analysis, preference was given to controlled shunt reactors, the use of which makes it possible to effectively solve the problem of optimizing the operating modes of electric networks of 330-750 KV according to the criterion of active power losses with acceptable economic indicators. It is shown that this provides an additional reduction in active power losses in ultrahigh voltage power transmission lines due to more accurate charging power compensation. A technical and economic assessment of the project to install controlled shunt reactors in the main electric networks instead of traditional shunt reactors was carried out and it was determined that the reduction of electricity losses during the transition from the natural stable normal mode of the power system to the optimal one compensates for the increase in capital costs, and the payback period is about two years. A method of analysis and calculation of the capacity of ultrahigh voltage power transmission lines with installed controlled shunt reactors are developed. The results of the calculations show that due to the use of controlled shunt reactors, the capacity of ultra – high voltage power transmission lines in the UES of Ukraine (Kiev – Rivne NPP, West Ukrainian – Sabolchbaka (Hungary), Dnipro-South Ukrainian NPP, West Ukrainian – Vinnytsia, Vinnytsia – South Ukrainian NPP, West Ukrainian-Rivne NPP ) can be increased by 1500-3000 MW. This increase in throughput will allow for more efficient operation of ultrahigh voltage power lines.
