The purpose of the work is to create and study a microwave scanning radiometer to obtain information about the environment based on radio thermal images. Research methods - functional-nodal approach to the design of microwave radiometer, statistical theory of radar, statistical theory of measuring radio systems and statistical processing of radio signals. A scanning radiometer with a large dynamic range and nonlinear post-detector accumulation of radio thermal signals was manufactured; developed and tested: the technology of manufacturing Cassegrain antenna, paraboloid and hyperboloid mirrors, which are part of it; a method of measuring a three-dimensional pattern based on raster scanning; the method of estimating the dynamic range of the scanning radiometer and the method external calibration using "cold" and "hot" sources of radio thermal radiation; the known method of measuring the fluctuation sensitivity and noise figure of the scanning radiometer was adapted to new conditions; developed algorithm and software for radiometric data processing and user interface for input microwave scanning radiometer signals to a personal computer for data processing and visualization of results; field tests of the scanning radiometer using the developed methods, algorithms and software showed that the obtained experimental data allow to build radio thermal images of the earth's surface and sky; by comparing these images with optical ones, the validity of the developed measurement methodology and the algorithm of experimental data processing was confirmed.
