Diamond like carbon coatings (DLC) are a promising tribological material that has a unique combination of properties - high wear resistance and low coefficient of friction when working in environments of different types. DLC have a number of disadvantages, the main of which are relatively low adhesion to the substrate, high compressive residual stresses and high probability of degradation of diamond-like structure and properties during long-term storage. In this regard, studies are being conducted to improve the properties of DLC, for example, by alloying coatings with metals and non-metallic elements. Promising alloying materials for the creation of tribotechnical DLC are carbide-forming transition metals and nitrogen, which contribute to the formation of nanocomposite structure. In this work the problem of studying the processes of synthesis and mechanical properties of doped carbon coatings deposited by a new combined vacuum-arc method was solved. The growth rate of hydrogenated diamond-like coatings synthesized by plasma chemical deposition from the C6H6 + Ar gas mixture at different component ratios has been experimentally and theoretically investigated. The structure, as well as mechanical and tribological properties of Cr-V-N coatings with different concentrations of vanadium have been studied. The influence of vanadium on the geometry of surface defects. The obtained results of researches NbN coatings testify to the prospects of further study of the influence of vacuum-arc deposition process parameters on physical-mechanical and structural features of niobium nitride-based coatings for industrial applications.
