Using the gradient expansion method, which takes into account the backreaction of the generated electromagnetic fields on the evolution of the inflaton field and the Schwinger effect of the creation of charged particles by a strong electric field, the generation of electromagnetic fields in the axion inflation model were investigated. It has been shown that the decrease of the generated electromagnetic fields due to the Schwinger effect and the dynamic evolution of the generated plasma of particles and antiparticles can prevent a backreaction in cases where this reaction would be important. The generation of chiral asymmetry and chiral charge in the axion inflation model, where a pseudoscalar inflaton field interacts with an electromagnetic field via the axial coupling, was studied for the first time. Solving a set of equations for the inflaton field, the scale factor, the quadratic functions of the electromagnetic field, and the density of the chiral charge, it is found that the generation of chiral asymmetry and chiral charge is efficient, resulting in a large chiral chemical potential at the end of axion inflation.  Product Description popup.authors Voyzehovskiy Vadym V.
