Promising areas for priority peat extraction have been identified. Technical analysis was performed for the selected peat samples, humates were extracted and studied by chemical and physicochemical methods. After the tests, the suitability of humates as a component of drilling mud for the replacement of environmentally hazardous surfactants was established. After leaching, peat was semi-coked in oxygen-free conditions, gases, semi-coking resins and semi-coke itself were tested for suitability for use in the energy and chemical industries. The technological scheme of humate extraction from peat of Lviv region is developed, recommendations on their use in drilling works are made.
