Scientific novelty of the obtained results: a systematic, holistic, scientifically based description of competently oriented learning of the Ukrainian language and reading in elementary school is presented. At the same time, the methodical system of teaching the Ukrainian language and reading is described and theorical and methodological guidelines for the development of competently oriented learning are presented; a theoretical idea of the current state was built: the essence of the methodological system of competently oriented learning, its structure; the nature of the links between the method of learning and competently oriented learning, the peculiarities of their functioning; reasonabl the prospects for further development of competently oriented education in elementary school are substantiated. The significance and practical application of the results lies in the fact that the results obtained made it possible to determine the ways of acquiring and mastering the competencies of primary school students (setting a goal and mastering the method of activity); to highlight the state of research development in linguodydacts; to reveal the possibilities of the school discipline "Ukrainian language and reading" as an effective means of diverse development of the student's personality, the formation of subject and key competencies in it; to find out the signs of the methodological system and develop a holistic methodological system of competently oriented learning of the Ukrainian language and reading in elementary school.
