V. Pisarzhevskii Institute Of Physical Chemistry of The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Different preparation methods (impregnation, coprecipitation, mechanochemical treatment, microwave drying) of Y-Mg(Zr)-Si(Al) oxide systems modified with dehydrogenation additive (ZnO), alkaline metals (Na, K) and rare earth elements (Ce, La) were implemented. It was found that the decreasing of maturation time of hydrotalcite in the mother liquor (from 24 to 3 h) during the coprecipitation procedures increases the concentration of basic sites on the surface of Y-Mg-Al-oxide catalyst by 3.5 times, which increases ethanol conversion to 35% and 1-butanol yield to 24.2% (275 °C) in the process of gas-phase condensation of ethanol with elongation of the carbon chain. Higher selectivity for 1,3-butadiene (45%) in the process of ethanol conversion was achieved in the presence of Zn-Y(La, Ce)-MgSi oxide catalysts, which are characterized by higher surface basicity. The presence of a significant number of weak and medium Lewis acid sites on the surface of Zn-Y-ZrSi catalyst accelerates the reaction of aldol condensation of acetaldehyde, i.e. the key step in the process of obtaining 1,3-butadiene from ethanol, achieving the target product yield of 14.4%.
