Toluene causes apoptosis and functional disorder in immunocompetent cells due to its effect on the state of lipid peroxidation, the adenyl nucleotide system. Purpose of the study. To study in vitro the effect of toluene on the energy potential of human red blood cells, and to develop a way to correct the resulting disorders by using a drug with an antioxidant effect “Selenium active”. Research results. Toluene in vitro reduces the activity of LDH and EZ of red blood cells (by reducing the intracellular amount of ATP and increasing the amount of ADP and AMP). Pretreatment of red blood cells with Selenium active reduces the negative effect of toluene on the energy supply of red blood cells in vitro. Conclusions. 1. direct contact of toluene with red blood cells in vitro causes them to lack the energy supply system. The negative effect of toluene increases with increasing active concentration of toluene. 2.pretreatment of red blood cells with Selenium active reduces the negative effect of toluene on the energy supply systems of red blood cells in vitro.
