It is established that the product yield reaches 60-94% depending on the carbonization temperature. The specific surface area for BET can reach 12 - 27 m2/g. The obtained samples show a decolorizing ability on MB in the range of 50-108 mg/g. One-step chemical carbonization-activation in the field of microwave radiation resulted activated carbons with high product yield (38-41%), specific surface area 990 m2/g, total pore volume 0.67 cm3 /g just in 5 minutes. Highly porous carbons (SBET 1250-1480 m2/g, Sme = 350-430 m2/g, Vt = 0.76-0.84 cm3/g) with an effective pore radius from 2 to 5 nm were obtained by chemical activation of coffee residue with orthophosphoric acid. The obtained sorption material contains on its surface oxygen-containing groups of 1.4 – 2.0 mg-eq/g.
