In the experimental setup, the gas phase containing sulfur dioxide comes into contact with ammonia water droplets in a cylindrical reactor. Experimental studies of sulfur dioxide uptake in a wet bubble reactor were performed to determine the binding efficiency of sulfur dioxide with ammonia solution and to determine the effect of oxygen in the gas phase on the binding process. Based on the developed mathematical models, mathematical studies of the process of physical absorption of sulfur dioxide contained in industrial waste gases by drops of liquid reagent in a hollow wet scrubber. Using a set of mathematical models, the results of numerical modeling of the duration of the process of sulfur dioxide absorption under the assumption of SO2 molecule absorption by a set of isolated droplets of different sizes were obtained and analyzed. For different levels of irrigation of the polluted gas stream, the optimal conditions for spraying liquid reagent in drops of different diameters have been determined. The factors influencing the rate and efficiency of absorption of sulfur oxides by drops of liquid reagent in a wet scrubber are determined for further verification of the results of mathematical research on the created experimental setup.
