The elemental composition of the samples of the RS and the products of its acid and thermal activation was estimated, the technological conditions of activation were determined. New CC with different Fe2O3/Al2O3 ratios were obtained from the liquid activation product. The optimal composition of the CC in a wide range of hydraulic parameters and indicators of water clarification in the treatment of high-turbidity wastewater and natural waters has been determined. Samples of sorbents were obtained from the solid residue of acid activation of RS under different conditions. Sorbents obtained by two-stage activation at a processing temperature 710 0C show increased adsorption properties with respect to phosphate ions and Fe (III) ions. The efficiency of joint extraction of a mixture of aromatic substances and inorganic cations and anions by CS obtained from the products of RS activation and activated carbon (AC) in a ratio of 1: 1 was studied. Samples of AC which are modified by solution after acid activation of RS were obtained. Modification of AC by metal oxides affects the characteristics of AC and increases the sorption of organic matter on modified AC more than (10-30)%. Significant increase in the rate of desorption and the efficiency of abiotic and biotic desorption of nitro and chlorine derivatives of phenol is achieved.
