Results and their novelty: Theoretical and methodological provisions for the application of hybrid approaches to the university funding are developed, along expanding the sources of funding for classical universities in the case of their transition to financial autonomy and corporatization, in particular, during a transitional period, it is proposed creating a quasi-endowment fund, which will be managed jointly by donors and university representatives. Theoretical bases for modeling the financial stabilization of activity of the classical universities of Ukraine under the manifestation of global consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are defined. Economic and mathematical models of identification of potential financial losses of classical universities from reduction of number of students and models for determining the sensitivity of the positioning of classical Ukrainian universities in the world ranking of universities under the manifestation of the global consequences of the COVID pandemic – 19 are suggested.
