Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  Object of research: physical processes of interaction of microwave and laser radiation with thin conductive fibers. The purpose of the study: to establish the physical laws of interaction of homogeneously and inhomogeneously polarized electromagnetic radiation with thin conductive fibers, to investigate the effects of abnormally strong radiation on them, to establish the possibility of applying these effects in science and technology. Research methods: diffraction theory, methods for measuring the absorption and scattering of electromagnetic radiation by targets, methods for measuring the temperature of thin fibers. The peculiarities of the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with very thin conductive fibers have been studied. It is established that the absorption and scattering of radiation is very strong. Factor of efficiency of interaction can reach several thousand. It is established that the maximum effect occurs when the fiber diameter is approximately the same as the thickness of the skin layer. Peculiarities of diffraction of terahertz radiation with linear, azimuthal and radial polarization by metal wires are investigated. Radiation of EN11 mode can create a "torch" after the wire. The strongest interaction is observed when the wire is in the center of the beam of a radial mode TM11 along its axis. The results of research can be used to solve problems related to the action of electromagnetic waves on matter: to effectively transfer the energy of electromagnetic radiation to small targets, to create protective screens in the microwave range.
