The aim of the research is high-precision spectroscopy of singlet and triplet mercury atoms in highly excited (Rydberg) states. Research methods - the method of field ionization in multistage laser-microwave excitation of neutral atoms. Results: 1. An atomic beam radiospectrometer was upgraded to study the spectra of Hg1 atoms in S, P, D, F, G in singlet and triplet Rydberg states in the frequency range from 40 GHz to 250 GHz. 2. Above the plan, the design and absorption cell for microwave spectroscopy of Rydberg's mercury atoms in a gas discharge were developed. 3. Frequencies of single-photon and two-photon transitions of type n1D2 → (n + 1) 1D2, n1D2 → (n-1) 1F3, n1F3 → (n + 1) 1D2, n1F3 → n1D2, n1F3 → (n + 1) 1F3 were found, n1F3 → (n + 1) 1G4. n3F3 → (n + 1) 3F3., n3F3 → (n + 1) 3F3 n1F3 → (n + 1) 1P1, n3F3 → (n + 1) 3P1, n1P1 → (n + 1) 1P1, n3P1 → (n + 1) 3P1, n1P1 → n´1S0, n3P1 → n´3S1. 4. Frequencies of 24 transitions of such types between singlet states of mercury atoms for the main quantum number from n = 35 to n = 42 were measured and identified. Constants for calculating the quantum defect of HgI atoms in S, P, D, F and G singlet states were found. 5. Measured and identified frequencies of 87 transitions of triplet states for the values of the main quantum number in the range from n = 35 to n = 42.
