The main novelty of the study is that the evolution of waves is analyzed by new approximate methods, taking into account the first two approximations. Significant differences between the evolution of waves are shown: the initial profiles are transformed due to the evolution in distortion in different ways, the harmonic profile is symmetrical and the bell-shaped profile is asymmetric. At a relatively long distance from the beginning of the propagation of the one-humped wave, the bell-shaped wave turns into a two-humped one. These bumps are adjacent to each other and halve their soles. Numerical analysis of wave propagation for different types of elastic materials with internal structure is performed.
