Marzeiev Institute for Public Health (IPH), National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2  The aim is to assess the nature and characteristics of the impact of drinking water consumption in cities with different levels of contamination with organochlorine compounds against the background of other potential ecotoxicants on public health and the development of preventive measures. Use of chlorine gas in the water supply system of Zhytomyr leads to an excess of chloroform in drinking water up to 2.2 MPC, and "soft" chloramine in the cities of Vinnytsia and Cherkasy - up to 0.5-0.8 MPC. When taken orally of chloroform in the body, the level of carcinogenic risk, in contrast to non-carcinogenic, is high (more than 10-5), which requires measures to reduce its content in drinking water. There is a direct correlation between the excess content of chloroform in drinking water and the growth of cancer of the colon, kidney, liver and stomach in the population of the studied cities. The nature and features of isolated and combined action on the body of animals of chloroform and anionic surfactants / aluminum of drinking water at the level of 1, 3, 5 MPC are established. The effect of each substance and especially their combination on the body is manifested by dose-time dependence of changes in the studied parameters of the blood system and metabolic processes. Preventive measures against the effects of COC on public health are substantiated.
