The peculiarities of different ways of realization of the physical component of basic secondary education in accordance with the new educational standard and the Standard educational program for 5-9 grades of general secondary education are analyzed and determined: as an independent subject; in the content of sectoral integrated courses; in the content of intersectoral integrated courses. The conceptual bases of modernization of physical education in New Ukrainian school: strengthening its epistemological potential; specification of mandatory results and variability of ways to achieve them; improving the concentric structure of the school course of physics and its development into a spiral-concentric. The principles of realization of the physical component of the natural branch of basic secondary education are substantiated: scientificity, accessibility, applied orientation, continuity, integrity and continuity, branch and interbranch integration, differentiation, logical completeness. The methodological tools of formation and development of basic competence in the field of natural sciences by means of physics have been further developed.
