A method is proposed for controlling the power of a fast neutron reactor which operates in the self-sustaining mode of a nuclear burning wave in the U-Pu fuel cycle, by changing the efficiency of the radial neutron reflector, which is carried out with the help of introduction of the tantalum (Ta-181) neutron absorber into the reflector. The Pb-Bi melt was considered both as a coolant and a reflector material. A detailed analysis of the reactor behavior with such power regulation was performed. To ensure the necessary regulation smoothness when controlling the reactor power, a proportional differential method of controlling the current changes of the absorber content in the reflector is applied. It was found that such a method allows to perform both decrease and increase of the reactor power in a fairly wide range without instabilities in the form of significant fluctuations of neutron flux in the reactor core. 2. It is shown that under irradiation the interstitial impurities are distributed between the interstitial and substitution positions. Thus, there is an additional contribution to the interstitial impurity transport caused by the vacancy mechanism. The kinetic equation for the interstitial impurities and point defects is formulated and the dependence of the additional mechanism of diffusion on the binding energy of the interstitial impurity with the vacancies and the irradiation conditions is found. It is shown that around the sinks of point defects and incoherent precipitates, the flux of impurities leads to segregation effects and modification of phase equilibrium conditions.
