The purpose of the work is to analyze the current state of the resource problem of complex technical systems in order to develop methods to ensure their resource and reliability. Assessment of the achieved level, development trends and new approaches to the creation of tanks for the preservation of oil and other energy products that provide high strength qualities. Research methods include the method of deformed solids mechanics, statics and dynamics of thin-walled structures, structural mechanics, computational mathematics; reliability theory, applied probability theory, mechanics of material destruction. Based on the analysis, the following has been determined: the most effective approaches to forecasting the durability of complex technical systems, which will develop methods for sound determination of their resource; calculation models and methods to calculate the parameters of the stress-strain state of shell structures of energy and the most suitable for use have been selected; problems of reliability of complex technical systems in order to ensure and increase their resource. The classification of methods to ensure the reliability of technical systems has been considered; methods to study the stress-strain state of shell structures with damage that can be used for storage of petroleum products, and promising methods for application have been identified. The results obtained at this stage will be used in the next stage in the analysis of the impact of defects, damage and load characteristics of tanks for storage of oil and other energy products on the stress-strain state of structures; in the development and improvement of methods to ensure the reliability and safety of launch sites of space rockets at the design stage.
