It is shown that in these networks single-phase earth faults (SPEF) occur most often, most of which are arc. Arc SPEF can cause insulation breakdown of electrical equipment, as well as accelerated degradation of insulation of the entire electrically connected network. It is established that to reduce the damage to the insulation of electrical equipment, it is necessary to turn off the damaged element with the minimum possible time delay with the help of protection against SPEF. Algorithms for detecting SPEF in networks with isolated and compensated neutral for protections that respond to voltage and zero-sequence current in the transient process (at the initial moment of occurrence of SPEF), as well as recommendations for calculating the settings of such protections.
