Aim of the study: to create a unified informational system ‘The Forests of Ukraine’ on the basis of the spatial database and free software to be used to analyse and model relations of forest fund dynamics with climate change, level of anthropogenic load and spreading of pests and diseases, forest fires and activities aimed at reforestation and afforestation. Methodology of the study: empirical methods: study, observation, algorithmisation, writing program code, comparison; theoretical methods: analysis, synthesis, forecasting, generalisation. Research is conducted using forestry, assessment, environmental, mathematical and statistical methods. All forest enterprises have the ability to virtually combine forestry information via the Internet to create a common geographic information system. Each of them creates and maintains its own layers of geospatial data; enterprises contribute to the generalized geographic information system of forestry. Thus, individual geographic information recording systems integrate, expand and deploy as systems for understanding and interaction. Geographic information system maps provide a basis for communication, presenting important messages and results in a simple and easily understandable way.
