Samples in the waters of the Kyiv Reservoir, in the mouth of the Pripyat and Dnieper rivers were taken with the involvement of the research ship "Georgy Gotovchyts". Columns of bottom sediments were selected to assess the vertical structure. Forms of radionuclides in solid phase samples were evaluated using sequential extraction methods and determination of radionuclides by gamma spectrometry, radiochemistry, beta radiometry, alpha spectroscopy, radiography. Statistical analysis of observation data was performed. The conducted research allowed to obtain vertical distributions of 137Cs and 241Am in the mud deposits for different parts of the Kyiv Reservoir and the Chernobyl NPP. The rate of sedimentation in areas of stable silt accumulation (old Dnieper riverbed and former lakes on the flooded Dnieper floodplain) was calculated. For most of the reservoir, the average sedimentation rate decreased to 0.30-0.35 g/cm2 per year (1986-2020) compared to 0.6-0.7 g/cm2 per year (1966-1986). Studies of 2020-2021 indicate that in the upper part of the reservoir there are no conditions for stable accumulation of sediments. Silt deposits are transferred to the lower parts of the reservoir. In these areas, silt-sand deposits have accumulated, which were formed after the last high spring flood of 2013. The map-scheme of the density of 137Cs bottom pollution (2013) remains relevant at present, taking into account its half-life. Electronic maps of 137Cs contamination density of the Kyiv Reservoir were developed according to the measurements of 1990, 2013 and 2020-2021. This allowed to estimate the current reserves and distribution of radioactive contamination in bottom sediments.
